Move an iCloud Drive folder into HearthVault
Scans from your iPhone, PDFs from Mail — bring the iCloud folder over and let HearthVault turn it into a filed, searchable vault with reminders.
1. Export from iCloud Drive
- 1On a Mac: open the iCloud Drive folder in Finder and use “Choose a folder” in the wizard (files download on demand — wait for the cloud icons to clear first).
- 2On iCloud.com: select the folder → Download; it arrives as a ZIP.
- 3HEIC photos of documents are fine — they're straightened and read like any scan.
2. What lands where

Folder names become tags; each document notes it was imported from iCloud Drive.
3. Import in HearthVault
- Create your vault (name + PIN, one minute), or open the Switch wizard from “Add documents” in an existing vault.
- Pick iCloud Drive, drop the ZIP or choose the folder — files upload in small pieces.
- Check the preview: one row per folder with a suggested category you can change.
- Start the import and carry on; a progress bar shows each document as it's filed.
Staged files are deleted the moment the import finishes; filed documents are encrypted at rest.
